A gift for the ladies =)

I noticed a few stuff happening in the last 6 months, it’s a giant growth in the amount of female users in Blogger, such as female entrepreneurs, house wives, college girls, school girls, female writers, all kind of women creating blogs at blogger, with one goal: To express themselves. Yes, that’s a fascinating topic, because most people starts blogs just to provide something to the community and at the same time earn money, but women wants and needs more, they want to express their emotions, they want to feel welcomed by their users, to build an identity so people may say “She’s a great professional”, and another thing that most of them don’t want to, but end up becoming into: famous.
That’s why I decided to make a Blogger template for women, I want to make part of their success, so I can wake up in the morning and think “Someone in the world is using a tool that I created to help others” and be glad. By the way, it is free to download and use.

The template is called A Lady’s Life and you can get the XML code here.

If you want to host the template images by yourself, you can download the images pack here.

SCREENSHOT AND DEMO

Demo: http://aladyslifetemplate.blogspot.com

HOW TO INSTALL “A LADY’S LIFE” TEMPLATE

After getting the code, you will have to go to your blog’s dashboard, click the “Template” tab and then on the button “Backup / Restore” to take a backup of your current template first. Now to avoid any weird appearance result, apply one of the Simple templates which already comes in the blog’s dashboard, you will see that the template was changed, good, click the button “EDIT HTML”, you’ll then see your current template’s html code, select the whole code and delete it (If you’re on Windows, press Control + A”). Now paste the code you copied before, save it. Done, you have your new template installed.

TUTORIAL: BASIC CUSTOMIZATION

The first thing you need to change (Or remove) is the picture of the girl with a dog in the header, because if it is going to be your personal blog, you can’t just use a random person’s image hugging a Golden Retriever. o.O
Perhaps you will have to change the header too.

Changing the girl with dog image: Search for object388209860.png and change the whole URL to yours.

Changing the header image: Search for header.jpg and change the whole URL to yours.

Changing the Logo and Slogan text: Save your code, close it, go to “Settings > Basic”, change it and save.

Now open your Template’s HTML again.

Changing the Facebook, Twitter and Feed Addresses in the top:

Facebook – Search for
Change the http URL to your facebook page, profile or group.

Twitter - Search for
Change the https URL to your twitter profile.

Feed – Search for
Change the http URL to your blog’s feed address, usually http://yourblogurl.blogspot.com/feeds/posts/default?alt=rss

Inserting your banner image or text: Search for

Banner 420 x 60

Delete Banner 420 x 60, and then insert your text or image URL.

Changing the Sponsored links banner: Search for 60b9a1b3-9e30-4c8f-b46a-056982cc21d4.jpg
Change the URL to yours.

Changing the Facebook Like Box: Search for <iframe allowtransparency='true' frameborder='0' scrolling='no' src='//www.facebook.com/plugins/likebox.php
The iframe starts at <iframe and end at />, you can change it to your Facebook Like Box code, I suggest you to use the iframe version too, otherwise you would have to adapt the code (E.g.: If you’re using the HTML5 version) in order to be able to save the template.

That’s it. The pages can be added directly from your blog’s dashboard. Enjoy it.

If you’re facing a simple problem with the template, you can ask me in the comments and I’ll be glad to help you out, but if what you need is to customize your template or any advanced request, your can contact me clicking here and I’ll help you with that but in this last case you’ll have to pay for the service. :)

0 comments

I believe I can fly, I believe I can touch the sky! Gooooood evening everyone, I’m a lot of sugar in the blood right now typing like nuts and would like to introduce you a guide to auto promote your website in the most famous social media websites in the world: Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn! I suppose you have read my last article What is, why you should use it, and 44 places to submit your feed for free!, or that you already know what is a feed and the benefits of using it. Haven’t? You still got time. ;)

REASON WHY YOU SHOULD DO THAT

Have in mind one thing, every single business must have a website, and every website must have a blog, and every blog must have readers, right?
But how do you get readers? You firstly must have articles, of course, then you need to make a small search engine optimization, good, but you don’t want to lose the loyalty of your readers, then you need to find a way to keep them up to date with your content, and there some ways to do that, like using mail lists and feed burner, or if you don’t mind, you can send them postal letters or call each one :p, but the easiest one is with Facebook (You can also try it with other social media), because people live in Facebook nowadays. And how can you do that? By inserting a facebook like box, or a facebook like button, read my article How to insert a Facebook Like box inyour Blog. Social Media benefits:

  • It can generate more business exposure
  • It can increase lead generation by using social media 6 hours or less per day
  • It can be used to gather marketplace intelligence
  • Using it for a long time can rise your blog’s search engine rankings
  • It can reduce your marketing expenses

Take a look at this infographic created by https://corp.wishpond.com
http://akechetablog.blogspot.com/2013/10/social-media-infographic-by-social.html

LET’S BEGIN!

These steps are going to teach you how to use it with Facebook, the procedure with Twitter and LinkedIn is basically the same:

1 - Access http://twitterfeed.com and signup:

2 – Add your Feed:

Advanced settings are optional, but I suggest you to check it out. Now choose Facebook as service.

3 – Choose existing Facebook Account or Authenticate a new account:
Click “Connect to facebook”.

After authenticating, select if you want to post to your wall or a fan page. I wanted to post a screenshot here, but I’m having trouble with my twitterfeed account, as I write this tutorial it is not allowing me to choose wherever I can post to a page or wall. Being able only to post on my wall. Please, if it works for you, send me the screenshot and I’ll update the post. This is a temporary problem, it happens sometimes. Now click “Update service”, and then click “All done”.

CONGRATULATIONS

Now every single item from your feed will be posted to your Facebook Wall/Page automatically, even when you write new content.

Hope it can be useful for you as much as it is being for me. Thank you for reading, I’m on my way.

What is, why you should use it, and 44 places to submit your feed for free!

A web feed (or news feed) is a data format used for providing users with frequently updated content. Content distributors syndicate a web feed, thereby allowing users to subscribe to it. Making a collection of web feeds accessible in one spot is known as aggregation, which is performed by an aggregator.
Source: Wikipedia.

Well, now that you know what is a Feed, I’ll keep adding the benefits.

WHY YOU SHOULD USE A FEED

You can use a feed for keeping your users up to date directly from their browser, you can also use your feed to post your updates automatically to other websites, such as feeds directories. You can use your feed in any website that can parse it. So that's actually a big deal to bring you visitors automatically.

HOW TO FIND YOUR BLOGGER’S BLOG FEED

Your feed will be:

Great tool to find Dofollow blogs and forums for link building and subsequently increasing your blog visits number

It doesn’t matter how great is your site design, product and content, if you don’t have a way to make people get to you, you’ll be like a guy (Girl?) selling lemonade in the middle of the Sahara desert. But someone may say “All a website needs is original and good quality content”; it’s true, in part. A website is like a soup, it takes more than one ingredient to make it tasteful. You need to do your website SEO if you want to reach somewhere, but some of you may have read in one of my articles where I said that I’m investing more on Social Media than SEO, yes, I’m doing that, but take note of one thing: I never said I abandoned SEO.
Live by the 60/40 rule, invest 60% of your time promoting your content, and 40% creating it, if you’re a very busy person (With family, social life, job and other stuff), then invest 80% promoting and 20% creating. It will take time, perhaps 1, 2, 3 or 4 months, but the results will be great, you can find many people on the web that started like that, and today their websites have a massive amount of traffic.

WHAT IS SEO ANYWAY?

SEO means Search Engine Optimization, it’s a variety of techniques that are used to increase a website’s position in the search engines results, in other words, there is a marathon out there for search terms (keywords), and everyone wants to get in first.
If your website is about cars, you must find out which are the best keywords to promote it, e.g.: “Used cars in San Francisco”, then use Google Adwords keywords external tool to see if those keywords have low competition and monthly searches. To use it, you only need to access adwords.com, of course you need to have a Google account.

Now let us suppose “Used cars in San Francisco” is the best keyword for you (actually “Used cars in San Francisco” is a long tail keyword, but leave the details for another occasion), the most basic thing you have to do now is to find dofollow blogs and forums to promote your website. But take note of one thing, currently there is a new Google update called Penguin 2.0, and it is getting many websites that are practicing spam to manipulate search results with the use of links scheme technique, anyway in SEO, everything is a links scheme, because you need to build links to get promoted, but when you abuse it, that’s considered spamming and manipulation. Then have in mind to build content while you build links, the rule, remember the rule.

HOW TO FIND DOFOLLOW BLOGS AND FORUMS?

Here is a great tool created with Google’s custom search that can be used to find Dofollow blogs and forums, enjoy:

Find Dofollow Blogs
Find Dofollow Forums

Note:
Don't forget to install SEO QUAKE in your browser and activate the option Strike-through "nofollow" and "noindex", that will strike a line over the nofollow links, another detail, some links utilize CSS, preventing SEO QUAKE from finding out if it is nofollow or not, so you may need to pass the mouse over the link and click Inspect element, that option is available at Google Chrome and Firefox, but in firefox your first need to install Firebug addon.

Once you have found the proper blogs, make comments in the articles with your search term, as follows:

Name: Used cars in San Francisco
URL: yourblogaddress.com
Email: youremail@email.com
Message: A relevant comment, don’t type stuff like “Great content, I’ll be loving to read more articles from you” and never leave links here, your link should be and must be on the URL field, because your name is going to be your link after the comment gets auto published/approved, and so you will have a Backlink to your site and that’s the most basic technique of Search Engine Optimization, it’s called Link Building.

Once you have found the proper forums, you can include your links on your signature.

Please share on Facebook, spread the word, and let more people be helped.
Thx for reading, I love ya :3

See you next time.

How to insert a Facebook Like box in your Blog

0 comments

Since the day I had a big decrease in traffic at one of my blogs, I decided get the time I was investing in my websites and invest 90% of it in Social Media and Forums, and only 10% in Google’s SEO, instead of doing the opposite, why? Because you can’t trust Google search, they’ve got a lot of rules in their algorithm, specially now with the Penguin Update. You may be doing a white hat SEO and get your website penalized for something they judge you might be doing wrong, and then I ask you: Why should you trust your online business and money at something as unstable as Google’s search? Why should you let Google say what you should and what you shouldn't do with your site? Money don't grow up at trees, neither you should let anyone say what you should do with your money and penalize you if you don't use it "wisely", from his point of view.

Speaking like that sounds a little ironic, because I’m using one of Google’s products, which is Blogger, anyway, and not less, trust your online business at Facebook, because in Facebook you can engage with your visitors, then those visitors will become your readers, and then your customers.
You can have a really huge amount of traffic depending on how many likes your page has, you can publish anything anytime, like a newsletter, but better!

What about your SEO? Leave the most of it to your visitors, let them link back to your site, let them talk about your site in other sites. When you interact at Forums, you’re already doing your SEO, even if the forum is Nofollow, you must remember that the forum is indexed by search engines, so when people reach the post you made, they will see your links too.

HOW WILL YOU GET FACEBOOK TRAFFIC?

In order to get Facebook traffic, I recommend you to create a Facebook Like Page, you can use your profile to get traffic too, but mostly a page is something more professional and won't mix up your personal with professional life.
Click right here --> to create a Facebook page.

Now that you have your page, you will need a Facebook Like Box, click here --> to get your Facebook Like Box embedded code. I suggest you to get the iframe code, if your HTML skills are really basic.
Now go on your Blog’s dashboard, click Layout, you’ll see your widgets positions, chose the place where you want your Facebook Like Box to appear then click “Add a Gadget”, scroll down until you see “HTML/JavaScript”, click it, paste the code inside the text field, save and refresh your blog’s page.

Now you can see your Facebook Like Box like this:

The wood background won't appear for you, as it makes part of my blog. As time passes, people will start to like your page because your content, then you'll be able to use the page to publish your links and then get traffic. Thx for reading, I’ll be seeing ya, next time bring me a cup of coffee, I’m sleepy…

SPREAD THE WORD, TALK TO YOUR FRIENDS, AND SHARE ON FACEBOOK, TWITTER, YOUTUBE OR ON YOUR LOCAL TV STATION, TO MAKE ME STOP SCREAMING LIKE NUTS!!! XDDDDD

Until next article.

How to add your keywords in your Blog template

0 comments

If you know the basics of SEO (Search Engine Optimization), you’ll realize that you need to optimize your keywords, in order to have better results in the search engines and increase traffic, but Blogger won’t allow you to do that by simply going to your configuration and using your magic wand, then it’s most likely the search engines are going to find your keywords in your content, but if you want to manually insert your keywords, you can open your template HTML and search for the head section
, then after it insert the following code:

Remember to change "keyword 1, 2, 3..." for your keywords.
About the description, you don’t need to insert it directly in the code, you can insert it by going to Settings > Search preferences > Meta Tags, but remember that you have to save and close your template first, if you don't want to overwrite the description you just wrote.

How to create a forum in Blogger

0 comments

Sometimes you need a way to interact directly with your readers, customers, viewers, penguins, etc. You may also need those people to interact with each other, and that’s time to start a web forum, but you don’t have any programming skills, you also don’t want to spend a penny with web hosting and web professionals, then you need a free easy way to start your own forum, well now you can.
You’ll learn how to do that now:

1 – Log into your blogger, open your blog’s dashboard and on the left menu click "Pages".
2 – Click "New Page", create a blank page and publish it.
3 – Visit this page to create your free forum
4 – Register and activate your account by clicking in the link in the Email they have sent to you.
5 – Now on your Nabble account click "Options", then "Embedding Options".
6 – Copy the code, get back to your blog’s dashboard, edit the page again.
5 – Click HTML, paste the code and save.

And here is how it should look:

Enjoy your free forum. So you might ask me “Why don’t you have a free forum in your blog too?” I’d love to do the same thing in my blog, but it is already in the main site here: http://akecheta.com/forum/ :)

Thx for reading. Please comment! I'll be seeing ya.

How to change your Blogger's language

0 comments

Sometimes you need to have your blog in a specific language, but it just keeps displaying the text in your location’s language, like in my case where I need the diby riby thingy to display in Englishy, and it still keeps displaying in Brazilian Portuguese, I even went to my Google Account and changed the language to USA English, it changed the whole site, except the Blogger. So what should I or you do?

Simply go to this page: http://www.blogger.com/language.g

Chose your language and save it :)

How to insert your profile Bio below every post automatically

0 comments

Once again, I’m in need of another thing: How to insert the author Bio on every Blogger post automatically. I think this is pretty important, because people need to know who they are talking to, it will bring you more prestige, more visitors, more fame, more cupcakes and swashpokles. People will start to refer to you as the guy from exampleblog dot com, they will talk about you, they will be your marketing, then other people will search your name at Google, or your blog’s name, in order to find you or your content, they will search you on Facebook too.
With more people, comes more comments, with more comments, comes more SEO, believing or not.
So make a great Bio text and find a cool image of your nose, because we are going to start now!

In your Template’s HTML, find:

</b:skin>

Then get the following code and paste it right before the previous code:

.author_info {

width: 530px;

padding: 10px 10px 10px;
border: 0.153em solid #C58C4F;
margin-bottom: 15px;
margin-top: 15px;

background-image: url(http://imageshack.com/a/img547/7232/sm7h.jpg);
}
.author_info h3 {
margin-bottom: 10px;
}
.author_photo {
float: right;
margin: 0 0 0 10px;
}
.author_photo img {
    width:120px;
border: 1px solid #666;
float: right;
}

Search for:

Then search for:

<data:post.body/>

Finally paste this code after the previous code:

<b:if cond='data:blog.pageType == "item"'>

About Author:

How to insert Adsense on all greatest spaces of your blog! THE COMPLETE GUIDE

0 comments

In this post you’ll learn how to:

- Insert adsense on the left side of the post
- Insert adsense on the right side of the post
- Insert adsense above the post, below the title :P
- Insert adsense below the post
- Insert adsense above the comments box
- Insert adsense only after the first blog post, in the posts listing

If somehow an UFO abducted my article, giving you a 404 white screen of death, then go on my blog’s search and type My adsense is not working at my Blogger.
Do that first if you don’t want to waste your time complaining at Google’s Adsense group, or shouting at me in the comments, saying “You scam, this is all wrong, get a life loser” and blah blah blah blah… later.
Let’s start. Open your Template’s HTML.

INSERTING ADSENSE ON THE LEFT OR RIGHT SIDE OF THE POST

Search for:

<b:if cond='data:blog.pageType == "item"'>

Take a look at the quotes, because in some blogs it may be:

<b:if cond='data:blog.pageType == "item"'>

That goes for the rest of the instructions, so please don’t beat me if you have trouble troubleshootizing.
Paste your ad code below that line, but there is a small thing to consider: the float attribute, and, not less important, the padding (If you want it to look pretty).
Then your code should be like this:

On the left
<div style=’float:left; padding-right:5px'’>

Ad code

Or

On the right
<div style=’float:right; padding-left:5px’>

Ad code

That will insert your ad unit on the left/right side with a small space between it and the article. You can change the 5px value to anything you want, 10px, 20px, 25px, you can even use 400033334px, I don’t give a crap :)

INSERTING ADSENSE BELOW THE POST TITLE

Find:

<b:if cond='data:blog.metaDescription == ""'>

Place your ad code below that part.

INSERTING ADSENSE BELOW THE POST ITSELF

Remember about the left/right thingy?
Right after it you’ll find:

<data:post.body/>

Place your ad code below that part.

INSERTING ADSENSE AFTER THE FIRST BLOG POST ONLY

This part will insert the code in the Articles Listing.

Find:

INSERTING ADSENSE ABOVE THE COMMENTS BOX

Go on your Template and search for:

You’ll get many results, but it will probably be the second one. Paste your code below that line.

DONE.

Please let me know if you find something weird here, at least for me, everything is working fine.
This tutorial IS NOT strict to Adsense, so instead of using adsense code, you can use any other code, be creative.
Don’t forget to comment your code, so you won’t get lost later. To comment just use:

This tutorial is to teach you how to insert Google Adsense in the parts of your code that an ordinary Blogger Widget can’t insert, so if you want to insert it on the right/left side of the Blog, on the header, footer or make that common trick which lets you display 3 ad codes after the first 3 articles, go ahead and use the Adsense Widget, it is free, comes with Blogger, and can even make you some hot coffee if you ask. See you in the next article.

Thsx yow for readinz.

Wtf! My adsense is not working at my Blogger template!

As the first article, I have to say that I had to write about how to make an Adsense unit work in a Blogger template because I just passed through that goddamned problem stated at the title, it was when I added an Adsense unit below my blogger post, the thing was supposed to work, but the day after yesterday (Today…), my adsense account was still showing the ad unit as New, then I did freak out, I went nuts like Jedi squirrels, I thought “What the hell, I added the code in the right place, I can even see a space that has the same size as the ad, so what’s going on? Is there any content on my page which goes against Adsense TOS? No. So what?” that’s when I took a closer look at the code and realized the reason: The Quotes, the freaking quotes! Yay! I’ll beat myself! xD

So here’s how I fixed it and how you should fix it too, just in case you are having the exact very problem.
Take a look at your adsense code, it should be something similar to this, but with numbers instead of Xs:

So what you should do is the following:

1) Change < into <
2) Change & into &
3) Change ' into '
4) Change " into "
5) Change > into >

Then your code should look like this:

<script type="text/javascript"><!--
google_ad_client = "pub- XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX ";
/* 728x90, created 8/7/13 */
google_ad_slot = " XXXXXXXX";
google_ad_width = 728;
google_ad_height = 90;
//-->
</script>
<script type="text/javascript"
src="http://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/show_ads.js">
</script>

Insert your code again on your template's Html, save it and Voila! All settled and working.

Welcome and hip hip hooray!
